Duane Dalman Appointed to BVCA Board Effective February 1, 2012

Two applicants, Duane Dalman and Rick Panos, interviewed for the Board of Directors position opening due to John Sausen's resignation on February 1.  Both men would be an asset to the Board as they have relevant work related and volunteer experience as well as a zeal to continue to improve the infrastructure and sense of community of Bixby Village.  After careful consideration, Duane Dalman was selected because of the extent of his involvement in Common Area Committee lighting, paving, and security projects.

Special Board of Directors Meeting on January 24

There will be a Special Meeting of the Board to appoint a new Board Member on Tuesday, January 24th at 6:30PM, with the following agenda.  All homeowners are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Colleen Pando

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Colleen Pando, a resident of Brocton Court.  Colleen dedicated many hours to the community as chair of the Landscape Committee and member of the Tree Committee.  Harvest expressed the feelings of all who worked with her in their condolences to the community:  "The dedication and passion she invested into her community was beyond admirable.  It is truly a great loss."  She will be missed by her neighbors and fellow committee members.  Our sympathy goes to her son and daughter and grandchildren.

Interested in Joining the Board?

Are you interested in making a difference to the Community?  Please be advised that effective February 1, 2012 there will be a vacant seat on the Board due to the pending sale of Director John Sausen’s residence.  If you are interested in joining the BVCA Board of Directors, please notify Jessica Holden, Community Manager, in writing before January 20, 2012.   There will be a Special Meeting of the Board to appoint a new Board Member on Tuesday, January 24th at 6:30PM.  For those interested, the Board will be interviewing candidates at 6:00PM.

Financial Audit Available

The independent financial audit as of August 31, 2011 is now available for downloading.  The financial audit will remain on the Finance Committee page.

Next Board of Directors Meeting on January 11

The next monthly Board of Directors Meeting will be this Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the BVCA Clubhouse, with the following agenda.  All homeowners are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Clubhouse Pool Renovation Project

The Clubhouse Pool Renovation Project will begin on Monday, January 9th.  The project also includes the John K spa.  Closure notices will be posted on the John K pool area at a later date.   Weather permitting, the project will take about 2 months.  During this time, the Clubhouse pool area, including spa and sauna, will be "Off Limits".  Noise disturbance is expected and unavoidable.

Lighting Project Update

The 2012 BV Lighting Renovation Project is going forward and work is scheduled to begin early in April and be completed by the middle of August.

At this time the materials are being manufactured and scheduled for delivery as required during the installation process.

The required trenching, digging of 225 large holes, pouring concrete bases with embedded rebar cages and anchor bolts and a second pouring of concrete reveals along with the removal and disposal of the 84 old light poles and 112 old bollards will obviously have an impact on the work area landscaping. In a few cases it will also be necessary to remove and/or trim some landscaping and trees. Landscaping can be repaired and will grow back. The Concrete and Electrical Contractors will be as careful as possible.

Project updates will be frequent and signage is being prepared to identify work areas. Also, people will be assigned to answer any questions. Please DO NOT talk directly to the contractors doing the work.

Contact information, work schedules and maps of the work areas will be made available when we get closer to the starting date.

There will be a lot of activity during this time and construction projects are by nature a dirty process. The Common Area Committee and the Board of Directors will be coordinating all of the installation activities along with the cooperative efforts of the Landscape Committee and the landscape contractor.

Minutes Available for 2011 Annual Membership Meeting and Following BoD Meeting

Draft Minutes of the December 7, 2011 Annual Membership Meeting, including election of the new Board of Directors, are now available.  The minutes will also remain on the Reference Material page, along with the approved final minutes of the 2010 membership meeting.
